I feel like it's only really stale because they haven't had as much time to work out all the kinks in HOI4 yet. The AI is getting better every patch, but still pretty bad at times. The peace conference system still sucks dick and there is a distinct lack of peacetime features. These are all issues that Paradox is working on and will likely improve, that's just how they develope all their games.Once they flesh out HOI4 a bit more, I can see it having nearly as good a replay value as EU4. Definitely not identical.EU4 is currently much more polished and fleshed out than HOI4.

It has a huge amount more features and a longer time period, more historical events and allows for significant alternate history. EU4 deals with many aspects of building an empire using war, diplomacy, espionage, backstabbing. There are quite a few internal features for nations that are important offer big advantages if you dedicate the effort. The AI is challenging even for more advanced players and small nations offer really fun challenges.HOI4 is a newer game and currently still pretty buggy and the AI is being improved, but definitely lacking atm. It is much less about learning history or building your own empire from scratch and much more about WW2 specifically. Almost every feature is directly related to fighting WW2 and the 'story' of the game is more rigid (Germany is going to invade Poland around 1939 about 99% of the time.) The actual battlefield controls are intuitive and effective usually, but a little cumbersome. These are minor complaints that will certainly be addressed in future patches and DLC.Basically if you like world history in general, want an empire building game that isn't solely about fighting, and want a more polished, complete game, get EU4.If you are a WW2 buff interested in modern military tactics, want a game more focused on warfare, and are willing to give Paradox some time to work out the kinks, go for HOI4.

Europa Universalis Vs Crusader Kings

They're quite different once you've scratched the surface.Hearts of Iron is basically a world war 2 simulator. It's very heavily focused on warfare, and it handles that aspect in extreme detail.Europa Universalis, meanwhile, covers a little bit of everything, and is about nationbuilding more generally. It's more open-ended with lots of unrelated things going on at the same, as opposed HOI which has a laser focus on World War 2.EU is probably the most general-purpose out of the Paradox strategy games, so it's a good choice for newcomers unless you know you're specifically looking for warfare (pick HOI), economic and resource simulation (pick Victoria) or intrigue and role-playing (pick Crusader Kings). For me HOI4 is definitely worse at the moment. As a Major, you are partially forced to take certain paths. For Example, as Germany, your focuses will not progress if you don't take Poland, etc. As a Minor, i see it as the following: Every Minor strat is the same.

Texas state employees salaries. This means the total compensation may fall slightly short of the full statutory salary (IC 4-2-1 and IC 33-38-5-6). Maybe that's not entirely right, but for the most part. You take on smaller nations and then progress to bigger nations. In the EU4 timeframe Nations can develop in many different ways and normal (not Ryukyu-WCs or such) games have a nice alternate history touch. In HOI4 i don't like it when a small nation rises to power. It's too ahistorical and is more like a Ryukyu-WC.But HOI4 could be fleshed out more in the future.

My Opinion incomming:Ok both are grand strategy games which means you have much micro and macro management. In EU4 you have to run a country and focus on economy, your diplomatic relations, religion and overall you expand way slower and harder then in HOI4While in HOI4 your focus is your front. You need to check your production in weapons and warmachines to help your army to stay strong. Politics is not that important in HOI4 then in EU4. And you expand way easier and faster. You can imagine playing in EU4 a King and in HOI4 a General:).
